Description: The sharp increase in the vehicle fleet, combined with the increasing quality of vehicles circulating on Brazilian roads and the fact that there has been no evolution of the country's road network compatible with the vehicles and traffic, has meant that signage has assumed increasing importance in road safety, implying the need to update the Road Signage Manual, 2nd edition, published by DNER in 1999.
