Greetings designers! Throughout the text, we will present some details about each CONTRAN Signaling Manual.

Chegou o momento de desenvolver um projeto de sinalização viária e começam a surgir dúvidas fundamentais, como:

  • Qual sinalização vertical deve ser utilizada em determinado trecho?
  • Qual a cor adequada para a sinalização horizontal?
  • Qual o tamanho correto das placas de acordo com o tipo de via?
  • Qual norma deve ser seguida para implantar uma faixa de pedestres?

Essas respostas não podem ser definidas de forma subjetiva. Todo projeto de sinalização viária deve ser fundamentado em normas técnicas oficiais, e a principal referência para isso é o Manual Brasileiro de Sinalização de Trânsito, publicado pelo CONTRAN.

O Conselho Nacional de Trânsito (CONTRAN) é o órgão máximo normativo e consultivo do Sistema Nacional de Trânsito, responsável por estabelecer as diretrizes que orientam todos os demais órgãos de trânsito do país.

Neste conteúdo, reunimos todos os volumes do Manual Brasileiro de Sinalização do CONTRAN em formato PDF, para que você possa consultá-los sempre que necessário durante o desenvolvimento dos seus projetos.

Na prática, essas normas também servem como base para ferramentas especializadas de projeto. O sinC foi desenvolvido considerando as diretrizes estabelecidas pelo CONTRAN, permitindo que a sinalização vertical, horizontal, semafórica e de obras seja implantada em conformidade com o Manual Brasileiro de Sinalização, desde as fases iniciais do projeto até etapas finais como quantificação e modelagem BIM.

Description: For each sign, its meaning, principles of use, positioning on the road, as well as examples of application, relationship with other signs and corresponding classifications, as provided for in Chapter XV of the CTB, are presented. Especially for sign R-19, the basic guidelines for regulating the maximum permitted speed and the procedures, tables and calculation methods for regulating the speed reduction of a road or section of a road are also established.

Description: The following are presented for each sign and special signaling: its meaning, principles of use, positioning on the road, examples of application, relationship with other signs and dimensions. The Appendix of this Volume II contains the diagram of the signs, defining the pictograms, letters, numbers, stripes and borders used in their construction, determining the legally established standard.

Description: General considerations and general criteria for implementing traffic light signaling are presented, as well as general characteristics for traffic light control and the elements of traffic light programming. The criteria for positioning traffic light signaling on the road and the criteria for removing implemented traffic light signaling are also presented.

Volume VI – Auxiliary Devices

Description: This Contran signaling manual document was developed in accordance with the provisions contained in Annex II of the Brazilian Traffic Code – CTB and includes different temporary signaling manuals used in Brazil, as well as international manuals and standards of the Brazilian Association of Technical Standards – ABNT. Volume VIII – Cycle Path Signage

Description: This Volume VIII of the Contran Signaling Manual refers to traffic signaling used for cycle paths. It was prepared by the Technical Group established by DENATRAN and approved by the Thematic Chamber of Traffic Engineering and Road Signaling, and presents concepts and guidelines for the preparation of projects, description of the most used signaling and its main characteristics.

Volume IX – Road-Rail Crossings

Description: This Volume IX deals with the signaling and protection elements of road-rail crossings. It is an update of the Road-Rail Crossings Manual, established by law no. 9,503, of September 23, 1997.

CONTRAN Resolutions

In addition to the manuals, CONTRAN occasionally publishes some resolutions that renew the rules for preparing our projects. We have attached below those that interfere in our daily work as designers, and we leave here is the link direct if you want to have direct access to all the others.

SPECIAL PARKING SPACES – RESOLUTION No. 304, OF DECEMBER 18, 2008

Provides for parking spaces intended exclusively for vehicles that
transport people with disabilities and mobility difficulties

TACKS AND STUDS – RESOLUTION No. 336 OF NOVEMBER 24, 2009

Amends Resolution No. 39 to prohibit the use of studs and spikes applied across public roads as sounders or speed-reducing devices.

ELEVATED LANES – RESOLUTION No. 495, OF JUNE 5, 2014

Establishes the standards and criteria for the installation of raised pedestrian crossings on public roads.

TRANSVERSE RIPPLES – RESOLUTION No. 600 OF MAY 24, 2016

It establishes the standards and criteria for the installation of transverse undulations (physical speed bumps) on public roads, and prohibits the use of studs, pins and similar devices installed transversely to the public road.

LONG VEHICLE – RESOLUTION No. 635, NOVEMBER 30, 2016

Amends CONTRAN Resolution No. 211, of November 13, 2006, which establishes the necessary requirements for the circulation of Cargo Vehicle Combinations.
